Climb Aboard for a Look Back at the 2020 Soul Train Cruise!

This week marks the beginning of Black History Month, a time to reflect on and celebrate the countless contributions and achievements of African Americans in U.S. culture and history. As Tony shared in his letter, this year’s theme is centered around the Black family. This feels especially fitting this year as we are missing our Soul Train Cruise family more than ever. The Soul Train Cruise acts as a family reunion for many of us as we celebrate artists of classic soul and R&B and their contributions to Black music and culture.

Although we aren’t sailing together this year, we’d like to continue this celebration virtually by sharing some special moments, performances, Q&As and more from the 2020 Soul Train Cruise! Join us and our cruise hosts Tony Cornelius, Angela Stribling, Jerry Wells and Jason Venner as we look back and reminisce on our fondest memories from the cruise.

Each week throughout Black History Month, we will post footage from our 2020 Soul Train Cruise so climb aboard and make sure you have subscribed to the StarVista LIVE YouTube channel and liked us on Facebook so you don’t miss a thing! Check out what we have in store for you below.

Remembering Don Cornelius with Tony Cornelius and The Jacksons!

The Soul Train Cruise wouldn’t be the same without the man who started it all, the founder and producer behind the landmark syndicated dance show, Soul Train. Of course, you know we’re talking about the one and only Don Cornelius, the tv host who brought Black music and culture to American living rooms and left a deep imprint on popular culture. February 1st marked the anniversary of his passing, so in order to honor Don we’d like to share something special with you all. Each year on the Soul Train Cruise we celebrate Don’s enduring legacy by hosting a Q&A tribute with his son and our cruise host Tony Cornelius and an artist or group that performed on Soul Train and got to know Don personally. In 2020, we were honored to have The Jacksons grace our stage with Tony and cruise host Jason Venner. Join us as we relive this special tribute to Don Cornelius and reminisce on the good ‘ole day with The Jacksons.

“Whats Going On” – A Tribute to Marvin Gaye

If you’ve never sailed with us before, you’ve probably heard it through the grapevine that we love paying tribute to so many incredible late artists whose music still touches all our lives. The 2020 Soul Train Cruise was no exception as we put on an extra special performance in memory of the Prince of Soul, Marvin Gaye. Gaye helped shape the sound of Motown with his chart-topping hits including “Ain’t That Peculiar”, “How Sweet It Is”, “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”, “Let’s Get It On” and “What’s Going On”.  50 years later, under sunny blue skies on the Nieuw Amsterdam pool deck, we grooved to these soulful hits as the Urban Guerilla Orchestra and El Barak put on the “What’s Going On” celebration. Grab your dancing shoes or just sit back and enjoy the music.

We hope you enjoy reliving these moments with us. We look forward to partying and sailing with our Soul Train Cruise family again in January 2022! If you haven’t reserved your spot yet, book now as we are over 95% sold and have only 2 cabin categories available. 2022 is going to be the Hippest Trip at Sea that you truly DON’T want to miss!
