A Letter from Our Cruise Co-Host, Jerry Wells
It’s only been a month since we returned from the Soul Train Cruise 2017 and I’m already itching to get back on the boat! This was my first time on the Soul Train Cruise - well on any cruise actually, and the whole experience was exemplary thanks to StarVista LIVE, the Celebrity staff, the artists and of course the guests! My wife and I had such a wonderful time in the company of all the other cruisers as we got to meet people from literally all over the world! Everyone was so friendly and fun loving, we immediately felt like we were just hanging out with friends and family. Maybe it's the shared experience of being fans of Soul Train and the music, plus the fact that we're all around the same age! Enjoying concerts and partying with people from all over reminds us of how much we all have in common.
The Soul Train Cruise is truly a destination itself, with tons of celebrity interactive events, beautiful ship amenities and plenty of fine dining options. And of course we can’t forget the music! The incredible variety of performances from some of the very best in Soul and R&B really made this cruise something special. From the R&B sounds of Chaka Khan and Peabo Bryson to the Gospel and inspirational music of Sounds of Blackness, every single performance left the guests wanting more. Both Kool & The Gang and the Commodores raised the roof off of the main theater as they jammed along with the guests. Hanging by the pool with a cold drink in hand as we danced along to Chic featuring Nile Rodgers is a memory that can’t be beat. Even though my career has been in radio, I haven’t had the chance to meet with many of these artists in an informal setting. The artists are encouraged to and do spend time on the ship with their fans, signing autographs and even just chatting about their careers. The Q&A sessions were especially enjoyable as I saw people who seemed near tears at just being in the presence of their musical idols. Those amazing performances PLUS the panels, cocktail receptions, wine tasting, All Access Pass interviews and daytime activities made for an exceptional cruise that anyone would enjoy.
I am very excited to be joining the Soul Train Cruise once again in 2018 and to see performances by Charlie Wilson, Eddie Levert of The O’Jays, The Pointer Sisters and many more! The Soul Train Cruise is already over 75% sold and I know you don’t want to miss out on this one-of-a-kind experience, so book soon! I look forward to celebrating the legacy of Soul Train with you all once again.
All the best,
Jerry Wells, Soul Train Cruise Co-Host
