We are just one month out from the Soul Train Cruise 2017 and I cannot wait to once again be your Cruise Host for this one-of-a-kind family reunion.
This year will be a particularly special one as we celebrate Soul Train Cruise’s 5th Anniversary sailing with some of my very good friends and incredible artists. It’s no wonder we are sold out yet again as we look forward to another week of fun, sun and of course all of the music! I look forward to seeing you all as well as Kool & The Gang, Chaka Khan, the Commodores, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers, Peabo Bryson and many more wonderful performers joining us on the "Hippest Trip at Sea." These are acts that have stood the test of time and continue the legacy of Soul Train.
As you know, Soul Train has a very special place in my heart. My father, Don Cornelius, always said that he wanted to create a show that presented positive images. There is one story I hear over and over again from all the artists on the Cruise and that is the fact that without Soul Train, there would not be as many opportunities for black artists of today. Soul Train was the launching pad for our brand of music for decades and the Soul Train Cruise continues to honor this legacy. We are all a part of something very special on the Soul Train Cruise and I know that my father would be extremely proud.
As you prepare for your trip in the coming weeks, consider joining me for a very special evening of wine tasting and soul food pairing. Peabo Bryson will join the Celebrity Summit sommelier for a wine tasting while onboard. I look forward to sharing this event with the cruisers each year, especially because 100% of all proceeds collected support the Don Cornelius Foundation. We will honor my father at this wonderful event and celebrate the vision that brought us today’s Classic R&B and soul music.
Nearly 50 years after its debut, Soul Train remains a part of our lives and its legacy continues to grow each year on the Soul Train Cruise. I am very excited to share that the Soul Train Cruise 2018 is in the works and is sure to be another incredible week full of good music and good times. Setting sail January 27th, 2018 on the Holland America Line Nieuw Amsterdam, we’ll visit the sunny and beautiful ports of St. Maarten, St. Croix and Half Moon Cay. I can’t wait to be hosting the cruise again with performances by Charlie Wilson, Eddie Levert of The O’Jays, Jeffrey Osborne, The Pointer Sisters, The Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards, The Whispers, The Spinners and many, many more! The StarVista LIVE team has been extremely supportive when it comes to the Soul Train legacy and I’m extremely honored to be a part of it each year.
