A Letter from Your Cruise Host Tony Cornelius

As we head into the holiday season, I can’t help but think of all the people who will be headed home to celebrate with their families. Homecoming has so many meanings and takes so many forms, but the one common thread through it all is returning to a place of comfort, care and love. And that’s what I feel when I step aboard the Soul Train Cruise. It’s my homecoming.

Soul Train has been my home for most of my life, just as it’s been for all of the artists who performed on its stage, for all of the dancers on its floor and for all of you who joined us week after week. The show opened its arms to everyone and created a place for us to connect and share the love, peace and soul.

In January, the Soul Train Cruise will welcome everyone back home. And just like any great homecoming, it will be a party! Music, dancing, dressing up and partying down. To give you a sneak peek into what’s in store, Russell Thompkins, Jr of The New Stylistics spoke to the 411 the other day and shared his stories about the group’s amazing career and how he found his incomparable voice. He was just like everyone else, tuning into Soul Train on Saturday mornings before the group got their big break and flew out to Los Angeles to be on the show. Did you know that the airlines lost all of their luggage and they had to run out to buy some new clothes before getting to the Soul Train studio? But always a cool cat, Russell arrived on time and in style.

The 2018 cruise is almost sold out, with just a handful of cabins left. We hope you’ll make it your homecoming. We’ll be waiting for you with open arms.

Tony Cornelius, Soul Train Cruise Host
